Default my trip from miami

Just got back from a trip to miami on the gixxer. Came up alligator alley and guess what I start to the get to the point where im gonna need fuel..........soon. Since exits(and gas stations) are few and far between I get off at the first available exit. Everglade City the sign says. So Im thinking EUREEKA!!! CIVILIZATION AND GAS!!! only it leads me down an even more desolate road. I see another sign,"26 miles to everglade city". With the gas light already on I cant turn back so I press forward unable to see beyond my headlight No other cars or human dwellings in sight. About 15 miles in I see another sign "PANTHER CROSSING". So at this point Im thinking, not only am I gonna run out of gas in the middle of nowhere, with no cellphone, and no one to help me, but im probably gonna get mauled by a freakin panther when I do hit empty. Thank goodness I made it to Everglade City only it was more more like a small collection of buildings than a city. Anyways I made it to the gas station and made my way back to the highway through panther territory. The trip was fun. After cruising at triple digit speeds for hours on end my ass and neck have gone numb though. This was really my first long trip on this bike so I just wanted to share. Sorry for the long post. lets hear everyone else's experiences on similar trips

Not that you can get a decent signal in alligator alley anyway...or that could be because my nextel sucks. Glad you didn't get eaten by a panther man!

dayuum, the trip to St. Pete is the farthest I've been on my bike in one shot. haha. And I feel like ass after a short 45 minute ride home at speeds over 120. I cant imagine hours of doing it.

Thats a long ass ride. I'm thinking of trailoring my bike to Miami to my cousins house. Then i plan on riding to Key West. It's still a 3 hour ride from there. Luckily you didnt run out of gas in Alligator alley. A cell phone wouldnt have helped. There is hardly no signal down there.

Oh man your telling me.. i bought a bike from Moto Tech ( wouldnt reccomend.. shit store).. Zx7r.. I called him making the plans to come down.. now the farthest i have ever been (never been on a plane) was Orlando.. from Largo.. so you see my traveling isnt big.. Miami was a journey.. well i ask the guy if he has Helmets.. oh yeah no prob... full store stocked.. i go down there and get the bike.. he even threw in a brand new rear tire.. now i ask for the helmet.. he had 2.. but ugly.. over priced.. so i ask.. where is there a bigger store with helmets on the interstate.. gives me some bull shit directions.. buy some 6.99 sunglasses for the ride.. well i had to be at probation that day at 5pm.. so time wasnt strechable.. i said fuck it.. lets go.. i hauled ass from Miami.. exit 1b on the interstate in Miami.. to Ulmerton and us19N.. with no helmet.. going a solid 110 70% of the time.. i hit up every other gas station.. sometimes putting 2.00 in the tank.. but screw that.. run out back there.. theres nothing on some of thoese exits.. but open road.. i started to think how bad it must of sucked to pave all that crap.. but i came home with so many cuts on my face from bugs and wind burn that scorched my scale where my wind shield didnt protect..

after an hour and a half of 100+ i tried pulling over a 18 wheeler to throw the bike in the back and pay for a ride..
flew by like 3 highway cops too..

will never ever ever ever drive a bike from Miami again.. ill ship it before drive it

It really wasnt that bad. I stopped about every hour to stretch and stuffed a shirt under my jacket like a pillow so I could lay on the tank. I only wish there was a way to prop your head up, my neck is still a little sore from tucking.

I wouldnt recommend it. At high speeds you want to know everything your bike is doing and have your full attention on controlling it. Plus the sound of the engine is music enough
