I concur... out of sight... out of mind.

However...

I keep my bikes in a Garage... in a gated community... they are fully insured... I have a dog, firearms and 12 years of USMC experience.

That's not the point.

The question is...
What are some good options for security for motorcycles?

Would an alarm possibly deterred the theives that stole the bikes last night?

Would wheel locks of made it difficult enough for the thieves that they would of opt'ed not to steal "these" bikes?

How about cable locks?

Deterrents(sp)...

1. move your kickstand switch to inside your fairing, and replace it with a toggle switch... Everytime they go yo put it in gear it stalls... ( Just remember to put up your kickstand)

2. Hardwire your horn to your power switch.... When someone goes to turn it on the horn blows LOL... Then move a real switch to some other convenient place in case of emergency...

3. SUPER GLUE your ignition wire clip.... ( Very important on GIxxers)...

4. As Cami said, a garage is always the best bet...

Alarms will work well IMO...
Rotor locks will stop theives that are going to ride it away, but do nothing for theives picking it up and throwing it in a truck...

I think the best thing is to install a LO-Jack transmitter hidden. It wont stop someone from stealing it, but the cops will track it right down and someone will be busted....

Your ingnition is cnnected to your bike with a little plastic clip... There is nothing to prevent a theif from simply un-clipping it and clipping in their own ignition. ( Commonly done when stealing gixxers) What you do is superglue the the clip together... Most of the time they are not equipped to splice wires, only remove fairings.... W/O the proper tools they *should* move on to the next bike.

well a alarm with a pager may help in some cases. a little harder to carry a bike down the road to a van with an alarm going off and some guy chasing you...lol
