mmm...I'd never buy a damaged bike but it's up to you if it's only "visual damage" I wouldn't worry about it as much...if it sounds bad...I'd definetly walk away.

*But I am no expert by any means that's just my policy with buying cars...I'd apply the same to bikes.

check to see if it has whats called a rebuildable title,or salvage, if it does it is only worth half of the blue book value even if completely fixed up.

"nice" bondo job on the tank.

Without knowing you, who am i to say your in over your head? Do you think you are, or will be? Please remeber that the bigger the first bike you get the flatter your learning curve will be. Don't lie to yourself and say "it's only a 600". New 600's can run with 900-1000cc bikes from 10years ago.

Perhaps a better question to ask is what was your first bike and how long did you have it, why don't you have it anymore?

The main thing to look for when buying a damaged bike is possible frame damage, bent forks/wheels and motor damage. Cosmetics can be simply repaired. This F4 looks pretty good from the pics, but it is hard to tell. I think the F4s make a good beginner bike.

f4i is just a newer version of the f3 in the line of cbr 600s. A very good bike to learn on and a good bike in general. From looking at the pics the plastics are very salvagable. And the tank could look like new as well. I dunno where u are at but I am sure there is someone in your are that can fix it up. (for a reference, the tank and tail fixed and painted factory honda yellow should run around $400) As far as the forks, frame, eng, etc.... Have someone who has an f4i or an actual moto mechanic take a test ride on it. They should tell differences. The subframe and forks are typical areas that get damaged in a wreck. If you feel the bike pulling one way or another when u ride, take a good look at the forks. Also look at the rear of the bike and see if the tip of the tail looks like its not centered with the rest of the bike. That would most likely be a bent subframe.
Just a couple things I find quite often with bikes that I work on. Hope it helps Ride safe!
