i was told today by the owner of this 2004 CBR 600 RR (header and "small turbo") that he is doing 9.8 in the quarter and around 200 top speed. possible???

he has showa rotors, showa suspension, yoshimura (sp?) header, and a "small" turbo.... its an 04' and he said he is selling it for $10,200.... fair price?

Nope. If the bike is setup for drag racing (slammed, long swingarm, drag tire, drag gearing) he might run a 9.8 1/4 with the turbo. Maybe. There ain't no way he is getting anywhere near 200mph unless his bike is making 180hp at the wheel which is VERY HIGHLY unlikely. A crazy gearing change might make his speedo so off that it shows 200mph.

Showa suspension is stock on most (if not all) Hondas. No such thing as Showa rotors.

An 04 in good condition with low miles would probably sell for around $7k or so.

Keep in mind sportbikes resale values SUCK, mods add next to nothing to the price of the bike, and a turbo bike would be worth even less (to most people). Unless the turbo and tune on that bike is perfect, damage will happen very easily.

wow... i was under the impression that the resale value was good....

this kid is trying to trade me for my prelude... i have my lude up for 9K obo...

he said that he would be selling his bike for $10,200 - $10,400
it has under 5k on it i think and he dropped it once he said... it has light scrapes on the right fairings, mirror and tail. he said he had ordered all original parts and would replace all the damaged body parts before the trade. he also said he would give me all the stock pieces.

You are paying for the turbo kit. Kits go for 4-5k. So at 10k i'd say its a fair deal. If i were you i would do a lot more research as to what exactly he has or has not done to the bike to help keep it from blowing up. Forget about all the quarter mile times he claims. If he has gone through the trouble to do all this work to the bike i would think he would have dyno's from tuning the bike. That is what you want to see. Pay speacial attention to the a/f ratio.

I tend to shy away from people selling completed projects. Reason is that you never know how much attention was paid to making sure the job was done right. In my opinion its best to take it from stock and do your own mods. That way you know its done right and wont get any suprizes.

If you are looking for a 600rr i have that exact same model for sale. And if you are so inclined to put a turbo on it i can promise you can do it for less than 3k. That puts you were this guy is at for 1k less at the least and could be an even greater savings. Oh, btw, the suspension comes stock with Showa. Although my suspension is upgraded with Race-tech internals, along with race compund sticky tires, race pads, etc, etc.

If you have specific questions about this bike and/or this deal then pm me.

P.S. you really would not need a turbo on that bike as a starter bike.

Sounds like BS to me too. Yoshimura doesn't even make a header for a turbo bike. He could have HIGHLY modified a Yosh header to work with the turbo but then it would be more of a custom job than a Yoshimura product.........

alright i found out more info... just called the guy to ask him about all the "shit" he was saying to me. he got a aftermarket showa dampaner bar to go with the stock suspension. he said the turbo was bought off a friend from a shop for really really cheap. 500 dollars and its a small ass turbo he said. he said that everythign was tuned for it and he has all the papers. he also has dyno sheets (around 125 to the rear wheel) and 1/4 mile time sheets (10.2 and 9.9 runs.). he said it was tuned by a guy at "full spectrum racing" shop here in orlando off of 434. he is replacing all the damaged exterior panels and even the gas tank and the crank case. he was going to throw on some new rims too before the trade and replace the rear tire. oh and he said that he had a yoshimura header and the turbo was "bolted up to it afterwards" (i think thats what he said).

how does the deal sound now? thanks guys
