SPROCKETS: Steel or Aluminum... Vortex or other... ?
I need a new set of sprockets.
I picked up a set of vortex 17/44 pretty cheap.
However, I am hearing bad things about them...
What suggestions do you have?
The target bike is riden pretty hard... holeshots & wheelies...
Thanks.

Any rear aluminum sprocket will wear faster than a steel sprocket (duh!).
Get a "Stealth" sprocket from www.sprocketspecialists.com The majority is aluminum but the teeth are made from steel so they will last much longer than aluminum.

A stealth sprocket would be the way to go but unfortunately there isn't one listed for a busa.

I should be getting the new sprockets tomorrow...
With ant luck I will be able to slap them on Saturday or Sunday...
I will be sure to post a ride report...
Stock = 17/40
Mod'd = 16/44
Can you say wheelie machine

Wow, they make aluminum sprockets for street bikes! Figured the torque would eat those puppies up. If you ride a smaller displacement bike I would go with aluminum if you have money to burn and don't mind replacing them with your oil changes.
I know from racing dirt bikes aluminum sprockets are teh gay. My Renthal sprockets only lasted about 1/3 the life of a steel sprocket but you could feel the difference with them being a lot lighter and what not.
