I don't know about the R6 being stable, as I have never ridden one before, but I do know I see a lot of them recked.

+1... ive ridden a gixxer 1000 02 and an 04 and they felt a bit big the 02 being way wider.... sat on an r6 after the gixxer and the r6 felt damn near weightless and when i rode it it felt like a bicycle way easier to corner but im more of a staight line kind of guy.... having rode 2 of the better sport bikes out or at least what is said on the track, i would choose the r6 for road courses and the gixxer for the drag strip...

You're asking the wrong guys here. If you want an honest opinion of what bikes corner go to the forum in jenningsgp.com Think you'll be surprised. Aslo while you're there look at the track records and what bikes posted them.

I'd go for an older SV650 with race plastics.

Another very good choice. My wife rides a 99 SV, and it handles tight corners with no problem.

My limited experience:

My 600F4i was awsome in the corners. Light, nimble, and stopped damn well.

My friends 900rr. Heavy slug that pushed through the corners. Could do the same corner 5+ mph more on my 600.

My cousins '03 GSXR750 Quick, a little heavier feeling than my 600, stopped just as well, but felt like it took a lot of input to get the thing to go into the corner.

I'm looking to get another bike soon and I have made my mind up to get another pre '03 F4i or 600RR since they are pretty much the same.
