I have to disagree with the yamaha being underpowered. In most mags that I have read, the 636 usually has like 2-3 more hp than the others, and then the Yamaha is usually right behind it.

04 600s hp link

How this translates into being underpowered is beyond me.

if you're going by max horsepower numbers you're correct. but since we're on the street, usable power comes into play. and the '04 gixxer and the 636 have the best midrange. the r6 makes a lot of its power up high, but most people keep it above 11,000 rpm in traffic.

bottom line is i was just trying to convey some of the differences in the bikes. you can't go wrong with any of them, it's just going to come down to what suits you best. i surely didn't mean to offend any yamaha or honda riders. my second choice after the kwak was the r6.

Sweet! I got the same color! For some reason most of the dealers in the Bay Area didn't order a lot of those Black ones. I saw it online and made Barney's order one in from somewhere in Florida. Always bet on black. Hope to see you around sometime.

..wow.. if this is true that means that... ur saying.. gixxers are... comfortable? I never heard these two words together before. THe kawi's have problems with keeping their shit running from what I've heard. I've never had one personally but.. I loved my 00 gixxer and 03 busa.. The R1 I got seems to be finicky about cornering compared to the busa (sounds odd huh?) the busa and 600 I had at the same speed cornering you could easily manuever the bike.. seems that this r1 doesn't want to drag knee untill you throttle it through the corner. anyways.. Personally I would go with the suzuki... great bike.

Sounds like you need to go through the suspension set up. My 1 won't fall in like my 6, but its damn close. Try www.r1-forum.com and look up the suspension setups and go from there.
