Bruce, there is one GSXR750 that I had considered - 2001 with 5500 miles on it for $6200

just figured a 750 would be too much to soon, but I'm still thinking about it.

a newer 600 will go 160 or higher top end. Do the quarter in the 10-11 second range. They're usually lighter and more nimle in curves than a 1000. I don't know how fast you feel like blasting over the bride, but I wouldn't want to go any faster than my 600 will take me anywhere but the bridge. i'm sure everyone's different, but i don't know how you could get bored on a 600 on the street. unless you're just into straight line acceleration.

I would think that regardless of performance figures or agility, all of these bikes are going to be fun

Anyway - a 750 or larger would probably have more torque and quicker acceleration, regardless of their top end abilities - right?

i would say get a 600... it's better to start out smaller and work your way up.
