Default F*ing cone weave

so i was trying to practice for the test to get my endorsement (i've got the temp permit now).

i marked out the cone weave and i just CANNOT get the bike to turn back that sharp at that slow of a speed. i know i'm a fairly new rider, but i can make turns (right and left) from stops and stay in the closest lane no problem. i have no problem maneuvering the bike at slow speeds in real-world situations, i just can't turn sharp enough at that low of a speed to do the stupid cone weave. almost dropped the damn thing trying tonight (got so low the fuel cutoff kicked in, fucker was heavy leaned over so much).

so is it the bike? i've got the damn thing turned all the way against the stops, and i have the clutch in so i'm basically just coasting, but it won't turn any sharper. is it possible the bike just doesn't turn sharp enough for a new rider to do this? i'm not against taking the MSF course (since i figure it will be easier to get the endorsement that way), but i wanted to at least get the endorsement before so i didn't have to worry.

Try riding the rear lightly riding the rear brake through the manuver. I know it doesn't makes sense but see if it helps. This should help to control the jerky throttle response from trying to gingerly get it through the cones. Riding the rear helps me have better control in slow speed manuvers. Or, you may just have the cones to close.

no, i measured the distance for the cones the same as it says for the test (12 feet). plus i looked at the dmv when i took the written test. i'll try the rear brake, but throttle doesn't seem to be the problem, i think it's just the necessary slow speed i'd have to go to get through the cones and keeping the bike leaned without putting my foot down.

it is not easy, I had a pain with it as well...you could always get a 250cc to take the test with or a cruiser, they actually turn a hell of a lot sharper...I have a rebel 250 that I bought for my girl and it will weave easily in and out of cones at 8ft (I had the 12ft marked out as well for my friend and it would come up early every time, but on my 600 I could barley make the first 3 cones and always ran the last over and I have been riding for some odd 19 years now), but tampamax is right about dragging the rear brake. Also when you do that though give it a little gas, it will help the bike balance...or measure where your forks come through your triples and mark them, then loosen the pinch bolts and pull the forks up through the triples a little until you have a good tight rake set up...the lower the front, the tighter you can turn...too far and your going to dig in to far and bite it, so find a spot that feels good for tight turns...use it for the test, then put it back to stock when your done.

we had to straight at a set of cones and then weave as soon as you go through them around another set of cones..when i said easy i meant easy on the 250s..thats what you take em on anyways..unless you take the ERC
