Ok, UrbanGixxer needs to stop lookin silly. No Busa for a 1st time rider...everyone knows that. Oh and FYI chode, UrbanGixxer does know what hes talkin about even though he has a Busa and hes also a good rider. Definately able to handle the power. Oh and I agree with chode about the 600 definately bein enough power for a starter.

I've ridden a gixxer 600 for 4 years.. I know my shit.. TY I worked my way up and know a busa is DEFINITELY NOT a good first bike.. it's fat, heavy, and fast.. it still turns better then I thought it would but not a beginner bike.. I still miss my gixxer..

I wasn't talkin about urbangixxer, I have read his post and he is one of the ones who has worked his way up. I am referring to the morons in high school who can't wait to graduate and get a busa. And the people who don't even own bikes but borrow their friends busas, indicating that the owner and the rider know nothing about riding. And yes, I do know some people like this.

Personally, I would never go higher than an R1 because I would kill myself on a busa. And even if I didn't, I could never ever unleash the full potential of that beast.

As for a first bike, 600s have plenty of power. Don't let anyone tell you different. Alot of people step it up before they have even touched the full potential of their 600.

Very true! I wouldnt get anything bigger then a R1 right now either. All the bikes bigger then the R1 are pigs in the corners. Those of you who dont know me should know this, I live for the twisties and dragging knee. It's my opinion that anyone can buy a Busa or ZX-12 and be fast in a straight line. It takes skill and talent and a properly set up bike to be fast in the twisties or on the Track.

yeah I'm looking for a sport bike. I was definitly gonna buy a used becuase I figured I would drop it eventually. It will probably be kinda slow and bad becuase I dont have alot of money. So the R1 is a good choice then? Anyone know a top speed or a 0-60? Not that I plan on going top speed but I wanna know whats its capable of.

Sorry I meant to add the SV 650. Does anyone know the specs on this one as well?

The R1 is definately NOT a good choice for the first bike. I'm tellin you, do some research before you get an R1. Get an R6 or any 600 for that matter. I think you have alot of research to do before you get a bike.

R1 as first bike ='s hasta la lleugo..

..I like corners as well.. and the busa isn't THAT horrible through the turns.. just gotta manipulate the fat fuck to do what you want it to do... it's definitely not as good as the other sport bikes through the corners.. I wanted a bike that had a bigger bore and I could ride for longer distance not to mention I love the 40th anniversary colors.. I didn't get this bike to go fast for the simple fact that my 600 was fast enough.. 163mph was the fastest I had it and I still had some to go so.. obviously I didn't get the busa for speed.. more so for comfort and longer rides.. not to mention no more high revving for power.. my reasons for a busa.. I still miss my gixxer bc it was fun through twisties and the loud abnoxious slip on pipe but I was getting tired of taking so many long trips with no twisties. I am always on the highway or at a fuggin light.. no twisties near me and I don't have the time to drive 45 minutes to hit a couple curves... it's sad.. but true. I live in S. Tampa... anyways ... to stay on subject.. katana's aren't bad bikes either.. just older gixxer engine.. (no one really mentioned the katana..)

You dont have all that plastic to worry about "When" you drop it. It's a light and very forgiving bike. The GSXR 600 is a good bike if you want a fat, ugly, slow, handling bike.

Anything bigger then a 600 would be a bad started bike. Look at the above quote.
