Katana is a very good starter bike. Did you look into any used ones because most likely your going to drop your first bike at least once. It's the same concept as motocross so you should be able to hop on it with no probs. Go take the MSF course.

Just dont put your inside foot down in corners!

I agree with everything JUG-LUDE says, especially the MSF course, and yes, you are going to drop it at least once, its par for the course, just be prepared and gear up and take it easy...

The katana was my first bike, it was a great bike to start on i'm glad i got it. sadly it was done for when i laid down the first time when some old lady rear ended me... just be careful, don't be cocky, and have fun.

the msf course is the one where at the end you get the license.. right.... how much does the course cost , cause i know i have to have my own gear gloves and ect..... and i was told that at the DMV, its a requirment that u balance the bike for 10 seconds with out moving... i tried that shit and couldnt do it for the life of me...

oh yeah get framesliders man, i busted mine gota get some new ones- its save ur plastics a bit from droping but very little from 60+ mph lol

I dunno about the 10 second thing... thats just what a few bikers told me... i found it almost impossible , so maybe it is moving slowly.. now frame sliders... that protection for what.. if i lay the bike down... how much do they cost ball park , and are they easy to put on..?

its protect the plastics from scratching and cracking from "low" speed droping . cost around 40~ , depend on which bike, I had to drill holes in mine. its easy to install. with instructions
