I guess that might be funny but it is realativly inexpensive compared to what i want for the bike to put another 500 into

On a 1999 R1 its not as simple as dropping the engine and popping open the lower casing. You have to split open the engine block casings. But ya in parts your less then $500.00 just a lot of labour

Im well aware... It cost about 1500$ from the dealer to do, but can be done for less then 500$... Given the condition of the rest of the transmission sometimes you can get away with just replacing the 2nd gear set as the dogs are worn out. If thats the case its about 150$ in parts and a little mechanical knowledge. Or simply buy a used motor from ebay for 1000$ and drop it in and go. At 2200$ either way you fix it you wont be out much on resale.

If I was going to go through the work trust me I would replace 2nd and 6th gear and all three shift forks. The price is good!
