Ok well I have a chance to get a 2003 Z1000 for $1,000 but it needs a new motor, it has a melted piston from nitrous.

2003 Z1000 is my dream bike, just looking for opinions. let me know what u all think.

 

there's only two engines for it on ebay right now (didn't check CL) and one is torn up some. I'm sure other motors could be made to fit but unless you have a motor lined up for it the idea sounds like you'd be buying a z1000 sculpture for 1k. I'd say save your money and put it towards a running model.

 

that's what I was thinking, a running one can be had for around $3500-$4500...so I figured i'd get everyones opinion.

 

stuff a zx10 motor in it call it a day.

that'd be a sick if i had the funds for fabrication. ive heard the zx9 motor will swap right in...anyone verify this?? but now that i look at that, the z1000 motors with the head and not the engine case like the zx9

 

Thats what they use from factory a zx9 tuned down a lil bit.

 

hmm i think i might hold off, i just went and looked at it, theres a kink in the frame (i wish i brought my cam. he said it was in a front end accident (he ran into a truck) i think im gonna pass on this one. thanks for the advice...i'll just try to save for another. they're not that hard to come across.
