1993 FZR1000 for sale.
I'm too dam short. The thing is too much of a stretch for me, arm wise. And my cafe project is feeling very left out, so selling it to fund the vintage bike.
Like the title states, 93 FZR1000, something silly like 130hp stock, it's really pretty quick.
Goods:
Brand new, well mostly, sufficiently scrubbed in
Won't find a shelf on these tires. Oh and they are Michelin 2CT's, and yes, the front needs to be replaced under the recall. It's free, but I haven't had the time to take her apart and drive down to Cycle Gear.
New chain/sprockets. 530 in size. Stock is 532, impossible to find and even more expensive. So it has been converted to 530, much much easier to get.
Carbs rebuilt/cleaned out very recently. New gaskets/o-rings.
Shorter dogbones on the suspension. Contrary to what this sounds like, this actually lifts the seat height up. Mid 90's 'sport' bikes were plagued with slow steering, the FZR was no exception. And it being about 520lbs with fuel, it didn't help the situation. Lifting the rear end up helps with steering response. When I first got a chance to ride it hard, I couldn't believe it was so heavy. I then learned that it had the other links on it, explained it all. Seat height went from 30.1" to roughly 32". This seriously doesn't feel like it's 500lbs, trust me, and I'm a pretty short/lightweight guy. That is also why it leans a little more than most bikes, basically, with the chassis sitting the way it is, the stand is too short. The bike doesn't fall over or anything silly, it just looks weird to other people.
Bike runs awesome, pulls EXTREMELY hard, and can surprise many sportbikes out there. Apparently when stock in 93, they used to run the 1/4 in the mid tens. And that was 93, pretty impressive I think. Probably due to it's 20valve head design and the uber thirsty carbs
.
Individual K&N filters, full exhaust, jetted to match. Still runs a little fat, but the mains are huge, and up top it really needs it. Yamaha had EXUP valves on these bikes from the factory, this one does not. So at low RPM, it bogs very, very momentarily before ripping your arms off, but it pays off in the top end.
Acerbis front end, if you like that sort of thing, with some pretty bitchin stickers I might add.
No body work, at least very little. Naked FTW.
Bads:
Acerbis front end, if you don't like that sort of thing.
No body work, if you like plastics. (I have some to go with.)
Lets face it, Yamaha transmissions suck. 2nd gear, like every Yammy made, pops out. I know the problem, but it requires me to split the cases. And well, it would take me too long, too long without a bike is bad. It's still usable, but you just can't wack it open. It's unlike most other problems though, it will skip and pick right back up. Initially, I thought it was a misfire, that's what I can equate it too. Then I realized it doesn't do it in any other gear. So that's what I've diagnosed, or at least assume, since it's so common.
It's ugly, sort of. It's rashed up, there are some dents in the tank/frame, the seat needs to be recovered, lots of things. But that is sort of the fun. It's a bike that looks beat, but runs awesome(except for the 2nd gear thing), and you don't feel bad about riding it in the rain. It would really need a new tail section, and either a new used seat, or recover this one(pan is fine). Tail sections, aftermarket fiberglass ones, run like 180 bucks, and you could recover this seat yourself. Rattle can it all, and it wouldn't look half bad. But like I mentioned above, I don't want to take it off the road unless I absolutely have too, and I just don't see it as a necessity.
Fork seals need to be replaced, I have them, but I then realized I have no means to taking out the tubes. Most shops don't charge that much to do it.
Needs rear pads, fairly soon. And the front rotors are probably a little warped(pads are fine up there). Doesn't prevent the braking system from working, just something I thought I'd mention.
Starter doesn't always catch. This is not a big deal, not sure what it is, but if you hit the button, it doesn't work, then hit it again, and blam, works fine. Bike has NEVER left me stranded, for any reason. So I wouldn't sweat it.
No speedo/tach/odometer. Fairings were damaged from whoever(before I got it), and I had decided to use a Trail-Tech setup for a dirt bike, just haven't dropped the coin to get it yet. But for right now, I ride by feel, and just fill up often.
There you have it, it really is a bad ass bike, but my arms are too short, and I hate leaving projects hanging, so this one has to go. And to make this very, very clear. This is not a stunt bike, nor do I 'stunt'. I know it may look that way, but I have personally never dropped this bike. Has it been? Hell yes it has, look at it. Is anything structural damaged? No, I ride it everyday, with much haste. I ride for twisty roads, it just so happens I ride a bike that looks like it does wheelies down I-4. I just wanted to make that clear. Bike is located in East Orlando, Oviedo area. No test rides with cash(sorry, have to cover myself). Email me with any more questions or specific photo requests. Asking price is 1700$, but make me an offer. I have a 'lowest' in mind, so I'll tell you if it's too low.
Oh, I also have the front fairing bracketry, some of the fairings(two sides, and the radiator piece), and a bunch of other stuff from when I got it.
