auto-x tire question
I am interested in purchasing a set of extra wheels with auto-x DOT competition/streetable tires. My Focus SVT comes equiped from the factory with 17" wheels, but I was thinking about getting a used set of Focus ZX3 16" wheels to mount race tires on. Will this affect my class designation going to a smaller wheel for race?
My car has 215-45-17 tires, what size in a 16" wheel tire combo would be compareable?....I don't want a whole lot of wheel well gap.
If anyone knows anybody selling equipment like this or has any suggestions, please post. Thanks!
-Ben
Also, are Nittos any good?

Well, since you don't seem to want to answer my initial questions
if you're still in stock class, you MUST use the stock size wheels. If you're getting a second set, I don't see the need for streetable tires, but oh well. Streetable is opinion based. I know a few guys running Kumho Victoracers as summer street tires. Whether that's your thing or not is what you have to decide.
If you want to go fast, you need to look at R compound tires.

falken azenis are great street tires, but wear pretty quickly. i have to change them about every 8-10 months.

At this point I'm not planning on doing any mods, but if I did it would be a CAI, maybe underdrive pulleys and that's probably all. It already has a header and low restirction exhaust, lowered suspension, and all that blah blah blah.
What would be the next logical class for me and my car then if I went ahead and mounted race tires to 16" wheels. Would it be street mod?
I only mentioned the DOT legal RACE tires 'cause I figured I needed them to stay in a stock class.
If I could get a good deal on some 17" wheels and a a deal on some DOT race tires I'd probably go that route.
