Default what should i do?

well, i'm tired of the volks that are on my car...and i'm going back to vx wheels for daily drivers.

should i sell the volks w/ falkens for 1400?

or should i put hoosiers/kumho's on the volks and go from there?

**the volks are 15 x 7's, i'd be running 225-45-15's front and rear.

or i could go with 13 x 8's from circle racing...i'd love to keep the volks for just auto-x...but i'm just tired of them for everyday driving, plus i don't want them to get stolen...

anyway, some suggestions would be nice...i'm still debating this.

thanks, chet

unless youre planning on getting that silly honda final drive, 4.9 of whatever it is...get the 13" wheels, and get 8.5" wide ones, and run kumhos until you learn the car a lot more.

I doubt you'll donate 2 of the Volks to me (i need 15 x 7s for the rear), so i dont care what you do with them....

I'd sell em if you aren't going to roll around on them daily..... they really make that car look good though

What I did was pickup another stock set of Protege5 wheels, mounted azenis on those and just had the set I drive on daily powdercoated gunmetal, pics to follow....

jesse, i do have 4.785 final drive right now. so i'm wondering how 13's are going to feel with the final drive after that. i'm thinking i'll try R tires with the volks...if that doesn't work out just get some circle racing wheels and keep the volks as a second set of daily drivers.

I'm gonna side with Jesse and go a step further. I'm going to suggest that you burn at least another set of Azenis before you go to R tires. It's a lot easier to learn on street tires than R tires.

Don't get me wrong, Chet, I think you've got a great deal of raw talent. But, until the tires are holding you back, you don't need to make the move to R's. In my opinion, the tires aren't holding you back yet. If nothing else, compare your times to mine. Consider that you have gobs more power, and we both have a decent handling setup that seems to work well. Consider that I'm running 195 S-03's that offer nowhere near the grip that your Azenis do. (I know, I've had Azenis on my car before) You're not as far ahead of me as you should be.

Don't try to rush the learning process. Making the move to R tires too soon can often do more harm than good. Putting on some super-fat Hoosiers right now would instantly make your car 2 seconds faster... but it's going to make those last few tenths of "driver time" that much harder to find.

When the time comes, just put some R's on the same wheels that you have now. Learn to drive on that... then decide how to proceed with your upgrade.

A properly driven miata on street tires *should* be pretty damn fast.

i think mike king has 4.23 final drive.

he's using a 1st gen jdm b16a cable transmission with stock LSD.

at least that was his setup when i talked to him in december...although he could have changed it since then.
