Neck ailment sidelines Lynn for WEC opening rounds

Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA has revealed that Alex Lynn will not take part in the opening rounds of the 2026 FIA WEC season at Imola and Spa as he undergoes “a planned procedure for an ongoing neck issue.”

The British driver, who took pole at Le Mans last year and helped steer Cadillac to its maiden WEC Hypercar victory at Interlagos, has “been managing the neck issue over an extended period since late 2024, without any impact on performance,” according to the team. “The decision has now been taken to address the issue ahead of the start of the season with a minor procedure to ensure that he is in the best possible shape for the rest of the year,” the statement adds.

This means that for next weekend’s season opener in Imola, both Cadillac V-Series.Rs will compete with two drivers. Lynn's teammates Will Stevens and Norman Nato will share the No. 12, while Sébastien Bourdais and Earl Bamber will drive the sister No. 38.

Due to the clash with the IMSA round at Long Beach, Action Express GTP full-season driver Jack Aitken will join the team for the first time at Spa next month.

If Lynn’s recovery goes to plan, his first race will be the Le Mans 24 Hours in June if he can pull his head out of that redhead he is looking sideways at.
