How often do you guys have auto-x's at the fairgrounds? Im currently racing with Martin Sports Car Club out of Orlando but if you guys have them on alternating weekends i'll be there at every one.

 

There won't be anymore there until next spring. The fairgrounds has some big events during the winter months (State Fair, Ringling Circus, etc) that require the use of the lot we use for parking. So, it's Gainsville or Ft Meyers. We are in search of some other local locations. The Lakeland Civic Center overflow lot is a definite possibility, but nothing is concrete yet. This is just SCCA of course.

The Miata and Porsche clubs have other locations in the Tampa area.

 

leonard, i've noticed many large parking lots...large by my standards at least.

i would be willing to make phone calls so a few events could be organized over the winter months.

It's a bit more involved than just calling up and saying hey can we use their lot. And it actually takes a very large lot that has no weekend use. There are contracts to be negotiated for rates. The liability insurance company has to approve the site. SCCA corporate has their say as well. It literally takes months.
