After Daytona PDX inspection
I just finished replacing my track setup with my street setup.
If you remember my questions earlier about the grooving on the front rotors: Too much brake rotor grooving?
Craig, I took your suggestion on the HT-10's on the front. The HT10's really cleaned up the grooves from the last event, no noise, no chatter. Turns out they don't make HT10's for the rear so I kept the HPS's on the rear. The results at the track were the best I have encountered yet. The car ran cool the brakes never faded, I had no issues whatsoever slowing the car down. I love the HT10's.
Even though the back pads still look brand new and I hated changing the back pads out, I will look into getting something more closely matching the HT10's.
All that being said, I would like some input on the condition of the rotors and the pads.
First the rotors, A lot of spider like cracking going on. I have taken some pictures. My next track day will probably be a two day event at Sebring full circuit so will have to decide whether to change them out or not. Please take a look at let me know what you think, make sure you zoom in.

Also, the HT10's did not hardly wear at all, unfortunately a large chip had broken off one of them. I will try to get them warrantied with the place I bought them from.

spider cracks are fine, just keep an eye on them after each session. My buddy has about 10 track events on his rotors with spider cracks and they arent breaking apart. Spider cracks arent too uncommon. Now once you start seeing radial cracking, or you can catch a fingernail on the cracks when running it across the rotor, it's time to retire them!
off topic, but did you get to upload any of the Daytona PDX pictures?

I'm not sure what radial cracking is?
I forgot to mention, I have posted the pics I took on the cfrsolo2.com website.

when the crack goes from the center of the rotor out to the edge (radius of the rotor). chances are that rotor might not stay in one piece for long!
any way to save those pics from the slideshow? Nice shots of the V!!!
Thanks for the info, looks like I'll be using them for Sebring as well then. Have to get that broken pad replaced though. RotorPros said they would contact Hawk on Monday.
Scott, I PM'd you on the pictures.

Thanks. What weekend are you going to Sebring? Not next weekend by any chance, are you? I'll be there with Chin April 30th and May 1st.
Just got back from Sebring on Saturday. Man Scott, You said I would be fine with those rotors. Just kidding. As you can see one of them cracked, but not until I was loading it up on the trailer at the end of the day. The last session had a lot of judder until they warmed up, during the last session.
Thats 3 track days(Homestead,Daytona,Sebring), 12 25 minute sessions total. The pads do not fair so well. I have gone through a set for each day.
These Hawk HT10 pads, that I'm running up front, are so brittle that chunks just chip right off!
These big cars are expensive to run.

I just caught the rotor advice and just wanted to add, that cracking is generally ok. Once you start with small cracking, keep an important eye on the overall thickness of the rotor. As it gets narrower, the cracks will be more worrisome. Measure them now before you throw them out.
Hawk pads do get brittle, it's a Hawk blue/HT-10/14 characteristics. The best pads I've had are ones that I'm real careful on with warm up and cool down. I once cracked a set of HT-10's doing an autox.

I am pretty careful in warming up. Guys that start in front of me are just gone like they have already done 2 laps. Set a pads a day is not gong to cut it.
I guess I was lucky that Hawk warrantied my first set.
Ever try the Carbotechs?

Switch to the DTC-60 compound. It won't stop for shit the first few corners but after that it modulates real well & lasts. Carbotech is going the wrong direction, it will cost more & last fewer laps.
