Default Extra Rubber on Tires from track?

I just got back from Sebring and my tires picked up alot of extra rubber from the track.
How do I remove it or will it just come off?
It is producing some more noise.

It usually comes off on its own with a little aggressive driving. Hit a nice curvy road or an autocross.

Or if they're track-only tires, don't worry about it. It will take care of itself the next time you hit the track.

^^ditto

I know some people who get a hair dryer or lighter and a chisel to get it off, but that's so beyond overkill.

Yeah I run Star Spec so these are my DD tires. But every now and then i hear a loud thud which means some rubber hit inside my wheel well.

I saw a lot of this at Nationals. Also some people use what looks like a hair brush full of metal teeth after every run. Another guy used gloves that would handle hard scaled fish.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

SCCA Nats is a different world. There you have people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars preparing their cars for a championship where they get exactly 3 runs on a course. Every run counts. Every thousandth of a second counts.

Those guys clean track "pick-up" rubber from their tires because they don't have the luxury of driving around a bit to let it fall off on its own.

If you have a bunch inside your rim, I'd just take a mechanics glove and wipe it all out of there. You don't really want to drive around with that sludge in there. On the tires, just leave it.
