I'm thinking about it....I know the basic rules....all i want to know is are there any clubs here in Tampa for SCCA that I can attend just to get some inperson talk about what it's really like....or if there's anyone in the Tampa area with a car all done up..the rollcage the single race seat etc...you know so I can get some insight.....

Check out the SCCA's web site (http://www.scca.org), check their list of events and then go to one!

SCCA folks are some of the nicest people you'll meet, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to answer all of your questions. If you went to an event, such as a weekend at Daytona or Sebring there would be *plenty* of race cars there for you to scope out.

What are you looking to do with the SCCA? There are many different levels of competition.

Solo 2
ProSolo
Solo Trials
Solo 1
Club Racing
Performance Rally
Road Rally

anyone know the best way to get into the sport as a career? Im a good student in college, but i have no idea what direction im going in as far as my studies. I want it to be something with cars though. So any suggestions?

you could get into it from really any direction. Obviously the engineering aspects, but then its all business to get money to build cool stuff. You gotta finance the stuff.
