I thought the Solo I Trials were open to all scca members, I didn't think you had to have a Competition License for the trials, just the Solo I events.
I believe the required licence is different than the Club Racing Competition license, but there are four different licenses for Solo 1 that you can obtain depending on which kinds of events you are doing.
I'll try to get more details about the whole thing and post what I find out.

well.. regardless of the type of licence.. the point is that your run-of-the-mill, basic SCCA membership licence only applies to solo2 and road rally. extra licences are required for any other type of event driving.
which leads me to a question i never thought of. will the solo2 licence cover rallycross?
