That GIR event (11/16-17) is a Solo I Trials.... high speed. SCCA License required.

Care to elaborate on how we go about getting one?

http://www.scca.org/amateur/club_racing/guide.html

you also need your car safety prepped for high speed

treat solo1 as club racing without other cars.

hillclimbs are the other main type of race in solo1

I thought the Solo I Trials were open to all scca members, I didn't think you had to have a Competition License for the trials, just the Solo I events.

I believe the required licence is different than the Club Racing Competition license, but there are four different licenses for Solo 1 that you can obtain depending on which kinds of events you are doing.

I'll try to get more details about the whole thing and post what I find out.

well.. regardless of the type of licence.. the point is that your run-of-the-mill, basic SCCA membership licence only applies to solo2 and road rally. extra licences are required for any other type of event driving.

which leads me to a question i never thought of. will the solo2 licence cover rallycross?
