Default Good Local Turbo/Standalone Tuner with Dyno?

I am strongly considering upgrading from my current piggyback engine management system to the Adaptronic. The nearest Adaptronic tuner is in West Palm Beach. I am looking for an experienced tuner with a good track record for tuning standalone systems on turbo cars. This tuner should have their own dyno and I would prefer someone local. I would be willing to go as far as Orlando. I will check out Titan Motorsports in Orlando, but I am afraid of their rates.

Check with LHT, not sure if they have done work with Adaptronic systems though.

Find Somebody that knows that system, even if you need to take a day off work to go there.

Anyone can make power.. but a good tuner (That knows the intricacies of that system) can dial in near stock drive-ability and fuel economy and torque off boost. I assume you're still going to be driving it every day so that should be VERY important.

James (RX007CYM here) he paid good money to a professional tuner. (before I got the car) but the tune was so totally wrong it ended up killing his first engine.. and it was something so simple stupid to fix. I also after completely rebuilding the failed engine, couldn't get the car tuned beyond a mild street tune without the ECU flipping out and knocking on boost, and I'm not a bad tuner. (so I stopped trying and called in the pros)

He took it to a place in orlando that knew that system inside and out and not only did they find >450 horsepower on only a little more boost his fuel mileage was doubled. it wound up being the ignition system the original builder used was not being controled by the ECU properly. so the first "tuner" dumped fuel to keep it from knocking. Massive amounts of unburnt fuel washed the lubrication off all the internal parts and the engine wore itself out in ~1000 miles. It looked like a 100,000 mile engine. (it took us a while to put the pieces of the puzzle together how it failed) this is a unique to rotary problem, but a good example if the original builder knew that the Ignition chosen would not work as planned, he would have just put the stock part in (like the ECU specialist did) and he would never have had to pay for 2 rebuilds, 2 tunes, and a bunch of other parts that failed along the way due to not "finishing" stuff.

From what I know John of LHT aka MrLHT on TR only works with Hondata, HP Tuners, and Zdyne. Send him a PM though, he may know someone who can tune that software.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

Good point, Jeff. It won't be easy, though.
