Default $2010 GRM Challenge - Hello Kitty is home

We are back from the $2010 Grassroots Challange, and we did really well (For A Mustang).

We some how quietly flew under the radar and took 12th place.
That works out to besting 80% of the competition.

- Our best concourse placement ever (14th place)
- Our best drag time ever (14.3 seconds out of a car that runs 17.5 from the factory)
- Our best over all finish - 12th (Previously 14th with the Fiero)
- Honarable mention for our Judge bribe (A Hello Kitty Princess Lamp)
- Highest finishing Mustang (besting two V-8 cars with a V-6)

We worked out a deal to sell the Mustang during the drags, so we are ready to start shopping for the $2011 project.

(My Fiero took 6th in the autocross in $2008, so our 16th place finish did not top that.)

These photo links never work for me.

Last year Hello Kitty finished in 38th place and Tod was determined to do better in 2010
This year we finished in 12th place and Tod is determined to do better in 2011. Geebuss!

So Barry is more interested in the BMW sitting next to us than our Mustang, Colour me surprised.

I don't know much about the BMW, but I assume there will be a feature article about it. I think it was previously used as an advertisement. Most of the Chassis looked home made. It appeared top have the motor sitting along side of the driver, and I heard it was a rotory.
The magazine asked for a photo of the motor, but the guy said, "No, I'd have to remove the body to show you the motor." Apparently there were acess holes to the motor and people were sticking the lenses of their cameras into the holes.

The HKR won that drag race. Tod won all our head to head drag runs except for one against a Turbo Civic. (Spork team). Tod destroyed him off the line (his 60 foot time was like 1.8 seconds), but the Civic managed to catch him way down the track.

I assume Tod will be retiring from autocross and taking up drag racing instead.
His best reaction time was -.002 Tod Actually had the Best reaction time at the event, but they don't count red lights. Bummer.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

I saw the Mustang this past weekend at the local Tampa Mustang show at MOSI. I'll assume it was with the new owner then. I figured if it were you, you might've stopped by the XR at some point.
