Cool Wanna Race? LOL ;)

I'm headed to the electric indoor go cart track in St Pete with some friends and family tomorrow (Saturday).

Should be getting there about 1 PM if anyone would like to challenge me on the track in some relatively performance matched vehicles at a safe venue? lol

Love the place but they do not have any "big guy" karts. I don't mind dealing with the weight penality but my hips hurt since I don't fit into the seat, so I have to sit on top.

Damn, sorry to hear that Jeff. This will be my first time there but I'm sure its gonna be fun.

Did they let you try a booster seat or anything like that? lol

The comfort factor if you could would penalize you with a higher center of gravity though.

I'm all ready higher as the sides of the seats don't let my butt hit the bottom in effect supporting me from two pressure points. It's downright painful. Although I did finish midpack last time I went down there with car guys and I had 100# on the next heaviest person. Mange a foam pad would help but I'd then be sliding out of the seat.

OMG, I see what you mean, my ass barely fit in those seats, lol.

We had an awesome time though, my best time I got was 19.65.

Had a fellow racing buddy there with me who got a 19.05, I think he was still #5 on the best time of the day list by the time we left. I was #8 at one point but eventually got knocked from the top 10, lol.

Even though he's a good driver, if I was making excuses he had a good 30 lbs weight advantage on me, lol.

Those electric carts do kick ass though, I will certainly be headed back sometime soon. Almost as much fun as auto-x but cheaper overall.

Well worth the cost. I started out by buying a 3 race pack for $39, each race concists of about 15 laps and its an interesting course. Rear brakes only so a little drifting is possible. Since the carts are electric they have some good torque to where if you blip the brakes into a turn its easy to kick out the rear and power out of the slide.

Liked the first 3 runs so much all my friends and I plunked down another $15 one additional race before we got out of there.

I highly recommend going, I'm sure you love it. They are kick ass little carts and in addtion to great acceleration have more power and speed than the course can handle.

All your lap times are also electronically recorded and show up on a big timing board and are part of a comprehensive time and position report for your entire race they print up for you at the end of the race.

Top notch operation for a go cart track. I was HIGHLY impressed.

Fun, for sure... but those karts wear me out! 3-race package is a killer. It's similar to autox, but autox is only 45-60 seconds at a time. Their races are 10 or 15 minutes. It's been a while since I've been. Definitely a good time.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
