Chump Car - That things a true 24 hours
Chump car runs a true 24 hour race, or two 7 hour races with 2 winners.
I got this email about 100 entries being turned down at LEMONS, wow. I'd hate to be one of builders of those scrap heaps. Looks like there are plenty of drivers for a second series.
ChumpCar has learned that over 100 entries from the Thunderhill LeMons event were either wait-listed or rejected. For some teams, this was their second "rejection" letter in a row from LeMons. Hardly seems fair. That's 100 cars and 400 drivers that really wanted to go racing. We all know how much time, effort and money it takes to prep a car and get a team ready for crap-can racing, and we feel that everyone should have the opportunity. That's one of the reason why ChumpCar expanded the market for crap-can racing and brought it to the Pacific Northwest and Desert Southwest -- locations where LeMons didn't want to race. We'd very much like to change those "sour" LeMons drivers into "just another group of Chumps!" So, here's the deal: If you know a team of rejected LeMons drivers, refer them to ChumpCar! Send us an e-mail that says you spoke with "Team ____" and told them to check-out ChumpCar. If that team signs up for either Portland or Phoenix-Firebird, we'll send you $100 (or knock it off your entry fee). And, you can tell the team you're referring to ChumpCar that if they send us a copy of the "rejection" e-mail they got from LeMons along with their entry application, we'll knock off $100 from their entry fee. EVERYBODY SAVES $100! EVERYBODY WINS! ChumpCar has posted this announcement on our Forum. Let's get everyone involved in crap-can racing! Pass the word along!

As always "it takes money to make money". Jay & company had to come up with enough scratch to cover the early race expenses before this thing ever got off the ground.
But, yeah... they're making a decent living now and having a helluva lot of fun doing it!
As for "24 Hour" races, LeMons does them, too. Just depends on what the track will allow them to do. The whole reason Philippe is willing to travel to Ohio for a race is because Nelson Ledges allows them to run a full 24.
And you can't fault LeMons for having an entry limit. Geez... 120 cars at CMP is enough. Could you imagine if they allowed in 100 more... or even 50 more? They have an entry limit. It is what it is.

well i can see Chump car being a little differnt, Maybe more serious.
WHo knows. But if there is enought cars to allow 2 different organizers to do 2 events at the same track within 30 day that is a good thing. Every one can play.
