Default Going to the 12 hour?

Anyone? Been thinking about heading down, I really want to see the new P1 Acura and the new R15, I think Peugeot is going to be much more dialed in this year too, should be some serious racing in P1 finally.

Yeah, I'm heading down there this morning for the day, then back at work on Friday , then back down there on Saturday morning. Should be a good show even with the light field. Hopefully the Pugs will put up a fight, the new Mazdas and Acuras finish, and the new Bimmers won't embarrass themselves.

I was going to go, but then I saw the ticket prices.

$100? Seriously?

I'll watch it from my couch, thanks.

$100 for 4 days of racing...That's only $25 a day! Plus you can pop a tent there and stay there till Sunday.
That's not too bad when you break it down.
--OR--
If you are just going for Saturday, that's only $8.33 per hour of professional endurance sports car racing!!
--OR--
Spend the $100 on Patrone and Miller Lite and camp out in front of a TV and PAR-TAY!

Evidently IMSA is going to help them not embarrass themselves. I found out today from a source that IMSA put some restrictions on one or more privateer teams that were faster than BMW in practice (before qualifying) after BMW complained.

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.

over all we had a good time but noticed the much smaller crowd and def the much smaller driving field

the Vette's were kind of funny to watch, in a class all by themselves at one point they even decided to pit together ... jeez no one wants to play with them ... that's sad. watching their brakes glow red even during they day time was sweet.

it was a shame the P1 Acura's weren't able to finish. i am sure that steering issue is something that is going to be an issue they really try to figure out/redesign. congrats to them taking the Pole position though (we weren't there) it didn't last long.

our fav turns to watch are def 3 - 5, 7, 10 as well as others

The Viper? Chris Hall (qualified the Viper) made a comment during the race that they tipped their hand too early and got hit with restrictors.

Yep, Chris put down a 2:03 in the Viper without even pushing it to the limit on Thursday, BMW got worried about being embarrassed by a private team and got IMSA to put a 20% restrictor plate on the car before qualifying, which caused it problems with revving besides just the power loss, effectively screwing a small team who spent the entire off season working 110% to get their car where it needed to be to be competitive this year, they even switched to a premier tire brand at great expense. I was happy to see one BMW barely even run and the other blow its engine after five hours; go M power.

That bullshit has always been a part of sports car racing but it has gotten unreasonably bad over the past 20 years or so. Vipers have had to take that shit for ten years. I wish ALMS, IMSA, SCCA, etc would do something about it to bring back the glory years when 80+ cars would be lining up on road courses all over the country. I can't remember the last time Sebring had more than 40 cars starting. What did they have yesterday, 26? The support races have more than that!
