Default Vette Club

Rode with the Corvette club on Saturday.
GREAT bunch of guys, way too open course.
If you didn't come with 400hp, you didn't come to play.
Most cars come to play.

I did find 3rd gear in the Fiero for the first time ever.
And she did best a handfull of those Z-06s,
but she really isn't built for an open course design.
I almost pissed myself when the headlight doors popped up on the big sweeper. Felt like the car was coming apart. And that's not unlikely with a Challenge car.

Ok, I'm done.

Those guys are going to lose that site for us. They've imposed a 60mph speed limit on autocrosses at Brooksville. And while you might get away with 65, maybe even 70 for a few of the fastest cars at any given event... if every car that hits the course is going 80 and anyone from the airport is watching (and they do)... it's just a matter of time.

I intentionally did not mention actual top speeds just in case a Person with actual authority read this.
To be 100% honest, the Fiero has ZERO instruments, so my only gauge of speed was the seat of my pants.

I know BAM has kept his events as low as 50mph max.

And the last PCA event, with its relatively open course, never hit above 60 as a peak speed. I rode along with one of the fastest cars and watched the speedo to make sure.

Personally I think 60 should be the max speed to keep it safe.
I spun out 4 times.

Well DUH, living up to your name!

If they are going to lose the site for us, it'll be this year ............ they have quite a few dates reserved there.

I can't think of another car that would take more damage sliding off the pad into those concrete chunks at those speeds than say............... a vette.

It was just a few months ago that the airport authority called a meeting with us to address "safety issues", and one of their primary concerns was speed. Of course every club rep looks around and says "not me". But, when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter who it is. If the wrong person at the airport takes note of it, they could easily say "no way, the liability is far greater than the income, let's not do this any more".

Maybe they just troll forums and know a little bit about cars? 3rd gear in a Fiero is obviously not below 60 mph.

I think my boss Jim Knight was there with an old green vette/ big black rims, I wish he'd let open that car up.
