howto heat cycle r compounds?
I got a set of avon tech ra's. I opted not to get it heat cycled. unfortunetly it didn't come with instructions. can't find anything online for them. can anyone help me out?
I ran my ra1's, for one 20 minute session at Sebring and then put my falken on the car for the rest of the day. They are still soft after 2 events.
BTW, some tire places say heat cycling is B.S.... Frisby being one of those places.

For autocross, at least, heat cycling is not B.S. -- I have the results from a National Tour on green tires several years ago to prove it. We ran the same course for the next local event, and I got much faster. The difference may not be as apparent on a track, given the longer distance between less severe corners.
Everyone has their favorite method, but anything you do that gets them up to operating temperature will work. Then take them off and leave them be for 48 hours.

Agreed, although the only diffrence I experenced was longer life before they "went away" or got hard. They don't last enough heat cycles on a race track to get hard. And recent rubber ompounds make this process a little arcane.
It's a matter of taste, personally I mount them drive a few miles then some skidpad in clockwise and copunter, put the car on jackstands or swap tires.

When I got my Yoko R-comps, I had them installed on my race rims, put them on the car, and drove them around. Tire shop to work, work back home. Took them off, let them sit overnight. Seemed to work.
I've had fine results with both heat cycled, and non-heat cycled tires...
I don't think you should completely shock the tires. I think getting some heat into them and getting the mold release off is key. Trying to do your favorite onramp at 1.1G is not...
