I'm down there in one of the joint command HQs. There are certainly no autocrosses happening there now. Frankly, with Brooksville available it's more trouble than it's worth. SCCA Las Vegas Region and a couple of area Corvette clubs recently managed to convince Nellis AFB to let them run one event there, but the hoops they're having to jump through to satisfy security and safety make Brooksville look easy. If we lost Brooksville, it might be worth looking into -- wouldn't call it impossible, just very, very difficult.

Delta Region SCCA in New Orleans runs events at a Reserve Naval Air Station. They have had a long relationship with the base, though. They have the same preregistration rules we do.

A small regional airport with a concrete runway about a mile long and 150-200 feet wide. Not a bad track, but the concrete is breaking at the seams.

Back in the day, CFR had a relationship with the MRW folks at MacDill. MRW would set up a concession food stand which the proceeds went to MRW. Also, military personnel's entry fee was the same as SCCA members.

Before the Back in the Day (in 1980), before the current CFR SOLO program was started by Howard Duncan, there was a club called MacDill Sports Car Club. You can guess where they ran at.

??? Are you confusing Z-hills with Brooksville? And I have never really noticed the cracks in the surface and my car is pretty stiff. It's not even close to the condition of 90% of the roads around here. That's jarring.
