Default help me choose a tire

should i go with a 225/46/16 hankook rs2 z212($88/tire at edgeracing) or 215/45/16 hankook($85/tire) or a 215/45/16 azenis rt-615 ($98/tire)?

they're going on an sts subaru 2.5rs. for the past few years i've been using 215/45/16 azenis rt-215's. reportedly the kook's have a softer sidewall but slightly higher lateral grip.

I found the Kooks to be a more comfortable tire, but the Azenis are definitely more grippy. Kooks really suck for straight-line traction... compared to how well they corner.

For $10, I'd stick with the Azenis.

If the big set back is staright line traction, that might not be such a loss in an AWD car like that Subaru. Of course anything I say is only hearsay, I've not yet driven on either tire. I do have a set of the Falkens in my garage waiting for the RT-215's to finally die off.

azenis..I DD on them, and they are VERY quiet and I've had no comfort problems.

This is the new generation, RT-615. I have nothing but love for these tires.

it's more like $40 but you've had both & prefer the new azenis? & as nunyo said i'm not really hurting for straight line acceleration due to the awd. you're confusing me man, you say the kooks corner really well but then say the azenis are more grippy. is that more grippy in just straight stuff or also cornering? i know the kooks will be less responsive for transitions due to the softer sidewall but keep the recommendations coming

I have driven on the Azenis for many years and recently switched to the rs2. I currently have 225/45/16 rs2s and I will be switching back to Azenis when these are done. Thankfully, I am not autoxing on them, or I would be tempted to replace them sooner.

Only the last number has to be exactly the same, however all the numbers are important.
