why? what's so terrible about them?

The Hankook's aren't "terrible" by any means. The difference between them and the Azenis is not at all "night and day", but it is there.

When I say the Hankook's are more comfortable than the Azenis 615's, I'm NOT saying that the Azenis is uncomfortable... just that there IS a difference.

When I say that the Hankook's have better cornering grip than they have straight line grip... and then I say that the Azenis grip better... I mean the Azenis grip better all around. The Azenis still seem to have a slight deficit in launch grip vs. cornering grip, must have something to do with the black magic of tire design.

I think what Muddy is saying, and I agree, is that for autocross purposes the Azenis is clearly a better choice. Part of it is that they have a stiffer sidewall and are more responsive. More grip plus a more controlled feel = goodness.

I've got an old set of Victoracers on the car right now... I think I may have finally been pushed over the fence. Toyo RA-1's will very likely be my next multi-purpose (street/autox/track) tire.

a 225 will be 20mm wider, 10mm wider per side of the wheel. depending on how it fits on the wheel now will determine, but you could probabl put a 225 on there.

OP:
If you are looking to be nationally competitive or wanna trophy and have every competitive advantage you can, run the 615

if you are just looking to have fun and tires that will be competitive, and work very well, go with the rsII

and as always, more tire = better, so if you can fit a 225 without sidewall rollover issues, id say the 225/45r16 woudl be a winner. but the 215 azenis will stick better than a 225 rsII.

if i were you i wouldn't go with a 225/55 as it'll increase your gearing & wrx's already have tall gears, you should get a 225/45 at the very least. you also might want to ditch the stock re92's & throw some 235/40/17's on the stockers or get another set of 17's. take a look at the options 235/40/17
