Chin Motorsports Sebring - Long Beach Grand Prix
I always get a kick out of dudes putting 1 layer of 3M blue masking tape all over their front end (not just lights) as if a rock at 80-130mph is going to be dissuaded by .3mm of sticky paper.

I was out there Sunday and had an awesome time! It was my third event at Sebring, first event as a "solo driver". Every time I go, I spend the week prior thinking "is it really worth all of the entry fee money, the tires, the brake pads, the 2-hour drive...", and every time I get there, I think "Hell, Yeah"!

Thats awesome Loren- I cant wait to be in the solo class so I can have more drive time on the track! It was hot Saturday but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I cant wait till the next Sebring event for sure!
I really enjoyed the Sunday format. There were only two groups of drivers, "experienced solo" and "racer test". Each group was on an hour and off an hour all day. It gave you plenty of time on the track, and plenty of time to chill out in between. 4 hours of potential track time. Between having to run out for gas (poor planning on my part), having to pit in half-way through a session to hydrate (probably poor planning again), and ending my last session about 15 minutes early due to just plain being tired... I think I got a little over 3 hours on the track.
Most fun of the day was in the last session. I spotted a spec Miata up ahead that I thought I was gaining on... so I went fishing. Over about 5 laps, I slowly reeled him in and after riding him for another lap or so, he pointed me by. Unfortunately, about 3 laps later was when I started getting tired and making mistakes... I ended up pointing him by and bailing out soon after. Caught up with the guy in the pits, he was a newb racer and said he picked up a few things while he was following me. I felt bad that I couldn't keep it together longer to help him out some more!
Swapped my brake pads back to the street pads last night... I think I wore my brake pads more than my tires!

Damn it Loren. Damn it. You're making too damned good of an argument. I've been dying to get out to Sebring for years now and it looks like work has eased up enough to allow it. If I get addicted to this and blow my retirement fund I'm blaming your ass.

Anyways, I suppose I need to buy some cheap wheels and rubber for the event. I'm guessing after track fees, membership, pads, and rubber, I'll be easily looking at $1,000 out of pocket. Ouch. Not looking forward to telling the wife about this...
