Default Falken Ziex ZE-512

I want something grippy since they will only be used at events, but I'm also trying to find the best bang for my relatively small buck. I'm not good enough behind the wheel yet to run Hoosiers—something comparable to what I'm using (Azenis) would be best.

I've seen the Falken Ziex ZE-512s at a good price, but can't find any decent reviews. Can anyone tell me what's up with these tires?

nowhere near as sticky as the Azenis. Its a decent daily driver tire and does well (have them on my car currently) but for the track I would never buy them.

What size are you looking for? Have you looked into the Toyo T1-R?

look up the hankook's z212's i think, cheap & very grippy! those ziex tires are no good for strictly autox usage. the kook's are much cheaper than the new azenis & have very comparable amounts of grip!

edgeracing.com has the kook's & at a good price plus 2nd day shipping

Aha, thanks! I had a feeling they were more road tires rather than autox.

I'm looking for 205/50/15s, no i haven't looked the Toyos

i believe thwe rt-615's in a 205/50/15 are about 89/each. Thats a cheap ass tire to me, when I pay around 300 a tire for the 20's on my truck

Hankook Z212's or Azenis 615's. Nothing better can be had for less money... nothing even comes close for similar money. The Azenis are grippier than the Hankooks.

the 615s have dropped in price, now only 78 per tire in your size (and even more affordable for my miatas 14s)

that is on edgeracing- FYI. that would be my non-r choice. i enjoy the ziex 512 to daily drive, but yeah- not for autoxtires. I would however recomend them for street tires b/c of thier high treadwear rating and afordability.

edit- thats only 3 dollars more per tire than the kooks- and more grip- worth it I would say!

when i daily drove my hatch i had the ziex's and also used them for autox . they are not bad actually, they did have grip

now i don't daily drive the hatch so i moved him up to the falken azeni rt 615

i use the falken ziexs on the rex because i can't afford drag radials yet, i find that they grip pretty well when I get off the clutch correctly . plus i have to do a short burn out to clean them off because they do pick up a lot of dirt and pebbles when warmed up.

by no way are the ziex's a competition tire but for daily driving and light racing i can't complain

I see people out there spending money on the car to improve it … If you spend half that effort just working on your driving skills, making you and the car work together as a team, then you’ll go faster – period. To make the car go a second faster on the track takes a lot more energy and money than making yourself drive it one second faster.
