2003 protege in STS..
I know its not a 91 civic.... But do I stand any chance at all? Or would I be better off running it in a stock class with stickier tires. I'll prob run streets for a few events but with tire rack having several sets of free tires lined up for me due to past usage of their stuff (have old coupons for buying in bulk back when I used to autocross lots at GCAC) i would have no problem buying some victoracers..
Anyhow, I know Jesse used to really tear up in his protege, and regardless i'm buying this car for a daily, so I'll have to do SOME work with it out there and take time off from the miata.

a 91 civic is definately not needed to be competetive locally. a decently prepped car & a decent driver oughta put you in the mix at any event elliot & bryce aren't at. especially since everyone seems to be deserting STS to drive a miata
i think the newer protege's are a bit on the heavy side but then again what cars from this decade aren't? hell, my car's over 3000lbs with me in it

Psuedo, do you have any contact information for this guy? or know the mileage on the vehicle?
Personally the care is mostly for street use, I pay to be a 3rd driver on a ES miata as of the moment just to keep wear off of my daily's.
I'm waiting for the next miata and hoping a 6'4" guy can fit as well as we do in S2000's

If you're not buying a car to be competitive, don't worry about it.

also what noone has mentioned in this thread yet is that Protege had a blown motor. apparently a new engine was put in but you may want to ask about that. just ask him(Jason) and he'll probably tell you exactly what all was done.
i vaguely remember him saying something about buying the car back from the insurance company or something.

It ran low on oil and spun a bearing. He fixed and it's been fine every since. For that matter, it blew a tranny back in 2002 also, but it was replaced. Who cares as long as its fixed now?
