This is what's up with Drifters at autocrosses
I'd consider myself a "Drifter" I suppose . I enjoy doing it . I went to my first autocross with some Sebring track days and a Panoz racing school under my belt . I figured since at this time there was not yet a legal drift event a Autocross would be the next best thing .
On my first run I gripped most of the course but a few sections I hung the tail out a bit for show and because I like doing it . I soon found it much more entertaining to just grip the entire course . Every Autocross I have attended since I have gripped with my car being oversteer happy in some of the corners it did step out a bit but as do alot of peoples runs .
At the G-Ville event a few months ago I would have to say Jesse was "drifting" more than I , in an Auto-x since . I think its the young punk kids whom dont understand the basis of grip driving .vs. Drifting and are only out to show off to people who get everyone else a bad name .
I belive liek matt has said that if someone happens to hang it otu a bit around a corner or 2 but is still competetive in times and the normal cone hitting #'s shouldnt be asked to change anything . Some peoples driving styles are just based around having the rear come otu a bit . They are in complete control of it and its there judgement at the time to think its faster/slower ... If there within the set pace of the class there should be no reason for them to be asked to change .
Yea ... ramblings I think I got my point across
