SCCA Solo Number Policy for 2004
I just want to make sure that everyone is aware of our stricter enforcement of numbers for this season. We had a few people get pretty snotty because they didn't know about the new policy (even though it's on the website and was announced at MULTIPLE events at the end of the 2003 season).
Here it is... straight from www.cfrsolo2.com

CAR NUMBER POLICY
The national SCCA rules regarding numbers have gotten MUCH more strict for 2004. A sizeable percentage of participants at the National Championships would have been disqualified under the new rules!
Of course, we encourage everyone to follow the new rules in the rulebook, but CFR won't be quite so strict. Our guidelines will be mostly the same as last year, except for three things. Two of these are existing rules that haven't been very well enforced, and one is new.
First, NO SHOE POLISH WILL BE ALLOWED. Ya just can't see it at T&S. We've said this before, but we really (really-really!) mean it this time. Nuff said.
Second, at about $4/roll, the blue painter's tape is very expensive, and it disappears at alarming rate. It would be expensive enough even if practically-new rolls didn't keep growing legs, so we've had to come to the conclusion that there will be NO MORE FREE TAPE! CFR will do its best to have rolls of painters tape available at registration for $5/roll (Feel free to get creative...if five people want to go in on a roll, that's fine), but IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPETITOR TO HAVE CORRECT/READABLE NUMBERS. If we run out of tape to sell, don't blame the tech/registrar people!
Finally, NUMBERS MUST BE PRESENT FOR TECH. We won't pass you unless you've got numbers.

I'm gonna give up autoxing too. Stoopid number rules.

if you have large windows...for example in a 4 door.
if you have, for instance, a 2nd gen DSM....then "NO".
you still have to conform to the rules... 8" tall numbers.

Magnetics can scratch paint too. So can cones. Scratches are an inherent risk of autox. Given that, as far as I can tell, you're complaining for the sake of complaining...... take it to FFA.
Get off your high horse.
If people don't want to put shit on their car that will damage their paint more than they are already subjecting it to, there's nothing wrong with that. Tape always comes off....magnetics fall off half the time. Shoe polish is good. Doesn't come off. You can go over it twice and make it nice and dark and thick so it can be seen well. Does no damage to the car.
I don't know who you think you are, but it's certainly nothing good.
