Club racers?
the question you need to start with is how competitive you want to be. A competitive *anything* will be more expensive than you plan on. There are 45,000 dollar Spec Miatas running around. Of course, you could build one that's "legal" for less than 10...
karts are the same way....a nice one is 5, a GOOD one is 10...etc.
for now, id suggest doing as many track days as possible. far less risk, you get instruction, you go as fast as you want to without dealing with real traffic...etc.
Chin, SafeMotorsports, BMWclub, PCA, thats where you should go for now IMO.

hey, id like to take my new FC out to the races at some point... but its a GTUs, 1 out of 100 ever produced in 1990... and Mazda doesnt even admit to producing any GTUs' after 1989... so i kinda have a car thats built to go racing, but i really dont want to butchur it up and ruin its stockness just to compete...
is the ITS class an all-stock class or is there another class that i can be eligible for w/ a bone stock car?

To answer your question, ITS is not a stock class. IT stands for Improved Touring. Stock cars with certain "improvements" allowed. You'd have to hack it up pretty good to make it competitive in IT. Of course, if it's truly a show quality car, you don't even want to race it in a stock class.
And I just looked at your CarDomain page... stockness???

I have a long term goal of being involved in fender to fender racing within 10 years. Till then I want to become a better driver and hone my skills as a autocrosser (needs much honing) as well as get some track days under my belt.
Like anyone here, I am passionate about cars, I like everything about 'em. Its the love of automobiles that drives me to the want of racing them...carts are cool, but they are not cars per say. So they don't really interest me in the same way. If I was more passionate about racing than I am about cars, then yeah, carts would be great for me I guess.
Basically, I never expect to be good or very competitive. I would like to try it for a couple of years. Some day when I'm old I want to tell the gradkids that I used to be a racecar driver. haha.

Even during track days, the "ratio" of going off at a trackday is pretty often, you just hope you have nice runoff...

Loren, i guess you didnt get the memo... im not talkin about my 88 SE... i have a Different RX7 that i bought a few months ago. Its a 90, i have a car fax for it. Its a GTUs, they were only produced in 89. there were a handfull of leftover 89's at the mazda plant which were re-VIN'd and sold as 1990's, which is what i have: a 1 of 100 1990 GTUs.
if you want more info on what a GTUs is, id be more than happy to oblige. but my car is FAR FAR from showroom perfect. Id like to keep my body damage to a minimum... perhaps i can stick w/ Solo's?
STS limits the performance modifications i beleive but is also one of the biggest fields, isnt it?
My car has some pretty good equipment on it stock and i think i could do real well w/ more practice; i just need to learn to use my car to its full potential.
Here is my NEW RX7 that im speaking of.... not the one you saw on Car Domain.
HTH
