Default how do you stop the RPM dependent "whistling"?

My GFs car just started doing the whistling I've heard in a few cars with systems. It started after I installed her second amp. Is this from not a good enough ground or something?

exactly....when running wires for your system you want to try to keep the rca's you are running away from your power wire as it will lead to distortion and the whining sound you are hearing. Also what kind of rca's do you have??? If you can't simply run them on the other side you may want to invest in some better quality rca's maybe(if in fact they are cheap)??

hope this helps...

I'm not really sure what brand they are or anything. Think I bought them at Best Buy or something. I will see if I can just move some stuff around or whatever. Oh and it happens when the stereo is off so the amp should be off as well.

well see how close the rca's are to the power wire and go from there. I know some people like to zip-tie all the wires together so that they are easier to run and then have problems with this noise. like i said i have never had a problem with this because i have 1/0 gauge power wire and actually ran it under the car and then back in at the back seats.

maybe 93ex can be of more help...he seems to be the audio guru around here

Hmm..well the noise comes straight from the amps right? I did run the RCAs on the same side as the power but I did that because thats the side I had apart and it was easiest that way. But I can try to use the other side and see I guess. I thought there was something you can buy to make the noise go away or something. Guess not

ground loop eliminator might help, but it's not a gurateed thing in my expereince.

theres alternator noise wehnthe stereo is off toally? hmm.. .that's an odd one, maybe the power is coming close to the actual speaker wires, instead of the rcas, but if you ran them along withthe rcas then that's not a good thing... the best to do is run as far away as possible.. if you haveto cross them, make them cross at 90 degree agnles.

the sound is ACTUALLY coming from your CD PLAYER.
you need a FILTER on the powerline to your CD player.
its a wire with a little box on it to filter the distortion. shitty cd players have shitty THD,(total harmonic distortion or someshit)

adding an amp to the fire only makes it worse.

and it WILL NOT MAKE ANY BUZZING WITH THE CAR OFF.
fuckin drove me nuts back in the day.

adding an amp depending on the voltage of the rcas will make the whine increse dramatically.

every AWESOME cd player i had DID NOT WHINE. all the shitty ones did
