JL Stealthbox or.......?
It seems I can never find a sub that satisfies my tastes. My first was a single 12inch Kenwood dB+. Never really sounded "right", possibly because it was only getting a signal from the rear RCA output on my headunit. The second was that new Infinity Basslink...that was just a damn joke.
So now I'm looking around for another sub. I have a new Kenwood headunit with a set of non-fading RCA outputs. I want something that isn't going to take up alot of room, but still hits hard and maintains good clarity. I'm thinking of the JL Stealthbox shown here:

The only downfall to this Stealthbox is that in order to anchor it to the car, I need to drill in from behind the fender lining so I can thread a bolt into the box. Great idea to keep it from going anywhere, but bad idea for someone like me who wants to remove excess weight for the ocassional auto-x event. I figure I may be able to find another way to mount this thing without having to dig behind the fender lining everytime I want to remove it. Here is a description of the sub itself:
"Contains one 10W3v2-D6 in a sealed enclosure. 300 Watt power handling. Wired for 3ý mono."
Do you think this would sound decent?
For the price, would you think I could do better with another setup? The JL setup is anywhere from $350-500, not including the amp of course. So I figure I'm looking at another $200-300 for an amp. Grand total coming to $750-800 +tax.
Sounds like alot of money for possibly not alot of sound, right? Any other suggestions? I really don't want to spend much over $600 for a sub/amp setup.
