A nice mess I got to fix.
A good customer of mine bought this truck and the dealer convinced him to install the nav system through his "guy" at the time of sale. 5 times back to him and it never worked right, so it came to me. It had horrible engine whine, the unit was crooked, the ipod didnt work, and various other minor things.
The moral of the story is that if you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. And damn sure dont ask people to PAY you for doing things you dont know how to do.
Here's what I found:
Clearly the HU isn't straight or centered. The kit had actually fallen apart becuase of the amount of pressure from the wad of wires behind.

I see a hint of what's to come!!

And then the dash vomited.

The unit was crammed so hard it actually broke some of the dash behind it. When you're installing something and it doesn't fit, pushing harder is NEVER the proper solution.

Under the console we find another mess. Hey, anyone want to guess why the Ipod didn't work? Because it wasn't a pioneer iPod cable, it was a JVC. Oops. Use the right stuff.

In the kick panel I find a wad of wiring, both the sat radio wiring and backup camera wiring is wadded up here. The backup camera's wiring was about 6 feet too short, so they extended it with about 20 feet of wiring. Makes sense right??

And finally the best of all, someone's attempt at destroying the bumper on an H2 by not looking before they mount the backup cam. The spare tire bar comes right where they first mounted it. If the truck were mine they would have been buying a new bumper, but this customer was awful nice. Also note the zinc plated screws in the holes to prevent rust, but in the camera itself are just plain old black oxide screws that will rust pretty quickly.

Also of note were multiple broken clips, missing screws, or screws replaced with the wrong screws. This whole thing makes me crazy. I'll bet whoever did this install did it a couple bucks cheaper than I would have. Tell me, is cheaper always better?
Here's a few more i just dumped off my camera:
XM brain under the carpet. I see this a lot, and i personally don't like that spot. In my opinion it's way too likely to get wet, and getting stomped on it never a good idea.

The wrong iPod cable was partially wadded up under the console, smashing it and making the console not quite fit right. The other wires on top that are also getting smashed are going back to the disaster that was the headrest screens.

And one more of the barfing dash. This is NEVER acceptable.

NT, i dont know who did it....he didn't mention and I didn't ask.
Can't do a plate cam on this particular truck. He's got nice wheels on it, so he got a 5th one to mount for the spare on the back. In doing so the plate was relocated to the FAR right edge of the bumper, so a plate cam wouldn't give a good angle and would be useless for hooking up a trailer. But there are numerous better options that the camera they used.
