Sub makes sounds/amp cuts out
Well first off I have a Pioneer Premier TS-W3002SPL I believe is the model. Its the 1000watt RMS model from about 5 years ago with dual 2ohm VC's. I also have a Viper D1200.1 mono amp. It is wired down to 1ohm. When the sub amp is hooked up, the sub will give some "feedback" in the shape of knocking and such, and sometimes some whining. When I turn it up at all, the amp will go into protect mode and won't come back on until I at least turn the car off but sometimes it takes a lot longer than that. This last time it turned off, it actually blew my 80amp inline fuse right by my battery that goes to both of my amps. I did notice my battery gauge goes down pretty low with the sub hooked up. Should I just run the amp in 2ohms and only give it 850rms? I am going to perform "the big three" soon to hopefully help out with the voltage drop but is that what the problem is? Thanks for any help.
You can't get a 2 ohm load from a dual 4 sub, so you're stuck at either 4 or 1 ohm. It sounds like you've got some issues either in the amp or in the signal if it's "knocking and whining". You could also have a short at the sub which will cause all kinds of havoc with the amp and could end up destroying it. Try this: unhook the sub and see if everything seems ok, and if you have any other sub to hook up for a minute try that. That will help narrow down the problems. Beyond that you might need to stop into a shop that has the proper tools and knowledge to test it and get it looked at.

Also I didn't mention that this problem occurred after the system was working fine for quite a long time. I don't have any other subs to test out the amp. I'll try to find someone I can borrow one from.

So I've come to the conclusion that the sub is the problem more than likely. I'm going to get another sub to try so I'm sure bur what exactly goes wrong with a sub anyways? Also what's a good budget 12 that can handle 1000rms @ 1ohm in a ported box around 1.5 cf I believe?
Often the voice coil will start to come apart and short itself to the pole or the magnet.
Define what you'd call budget? Thats a lot of power for most actual budget type subs to handle.

Well I can't remember what I paid for this one but I think $75 or so. Doubt I'll find one that cheap new. Hopefully in the $150 range online somewhere. Was looking at the RE subs but they look to be around $250.
I have an elemental design 13aV2 I am tryin to get rid of has a five year warranty and Ive had it for less than 6 months... It's 1300 rms and its 2 ohm DVC... PM me if interested
