Default What to Push A 12" with?

What would be better to push a 12" MTX Blue Thunder with, an Alpine 600watt amp or a MTX Blue Thunder 280watt amp......I want to use the 600watt but I dont know if its to much to push the 12 with...if I use it will the 12 blow?

Just don't overdrive the woofer!!! It is better to run a speaker with too big an amp instead of too small. You can EASILY blow a 500 watt woofer with a 50 watt amp when you are overdriving the amp. The MTX is a decent woofer, as long as you are not hearing the woofer pop or make other bad noises you are ok. I am very power hungry when it comes to mids and highs, I personally would actually run the 600 watt Alpine on the front mids and highs and use 280 watt amp on the sub.

It's not power that blows speakers it's distortion.

If you have both amps at hand, use the mtx on the suba nd the alpine on the inside.

more wattage = clarity
