how many farads would be best for a 1700rms - 2500watt peak system, running at 1 ohm????? thanks.

they are kind of like an amp for your amp......


like total eclipse said.... they dispurse energy fast whereas you car alternator/battery are designed to dispurse it slowly for a long period of time....


with a capacitor(farad is size/power of capacitor) you amps wont starve for power when hitting fast notes or at a high output for a short amount of time...

it works like a battery only faster, for when your amps need more juice for a transient moment... so it doesnt dim your headlights

these caps have been debated on their usefulness in SPL, with the conclusion that they become a drain on the alternator since they become drained in under a second, but i feel that with a HO alternator and additional battery that the caps wont take away from SPL
but if u have the h.o. alternator and batteries then u wouldnt need the caps. think about it. it wouldnt matter how big the alternator or battery was once the cap is discharged its still going to be a drain. so for spl purposes i suggest not using them. just a little insight from personal experience on the iasca circuit.
