Default speakers not working

was wondering if anyone can help , i was listening to my cd player as usual a few days ago and everything was just fine , yesterday i got to drive my car again and the radio was working fine but no sound came out of the speakers i tried everything and since nothing worked i thought it was the radio so i went and got me another one ( i been wanting to upgrade anyways) .
i hooked up the new radio but still no sound at all , since i know its not the radio i was wondering what could it be .... what do you guys recommend to first ???
everything works in the radio , it powers up and everything its just there is no sound at all ... thanks a lot ....

A little more info might be helpful. What year, make, model? Was the original radio that went out factory or aftermarket?

Assuming your radio wiring is fine, I'd bet a blown speaker is throwing your radio(s) out of whack. I don't think I've ever removed a door panel on a 99-01 Jetta and seen the speakers' surround still in tact.

No problem. Funny, when I read the first post, and saw your avatar that said jetta gls, I thought to myself "I bet its a 99 or 2000" in my head before I even scrolled down. They're notorious for that and the door panel inserts coming apart (among other things).

My installers are so good they can diagnose cars without even seeing them!

Good job Kevin. I hadn't even thought about that either. And he mentions the door panel inserts because our upholstery department works on them constantly here at the shop!

Glad it all worked out. Call us if you want those inserts replaced! God knows we have done enough of them...
