Default Viper 2 way

I've went to some local shops, they want 600 for the viper 5901 (2 way that reaches a mile for the page back)

I done some research online and I found that they're selling the viper 5901 is only 239.99 online so I'm seeing if I was to buy one or if you could match the price that I've been seeing online what would it cost to have it installed.

Thanks.

The 5901 is a 2 way paging with remote start and is a BAD ASS alarm! I have that alarm on my 05 Dodge Dakota. That alarm even tells me what temp it is in my truck. Viper msrp is 599.99. If someone is selling that alarm on the internet that cheap ask you self why.

Just buy from a person with a high rating. Saving $300 is a huge difference, I usually would say support your local shop but $300 is alot. I have bought a Viper alarm from eBay before and had no problems. I would look into Autopage or Compustar tho IMO.

Auto page has a much higher return rate than Viper. Not to mention that if u buy a viper from an authorised dealer viper will pay up to 2500 dollars towards your deductable, no other alarm will do that!

The Viper is a nice alarm, but my personal opinion you that you can get the same or better quality for less $$$ with other brands.
I've had easily 10 times more Viper remotes fail than Autopage, it's not even in the same ballpark. The new remotes are a big step better though and may not be so prone to failure.

When you buy a security system online just consider all the situations first. Get installation quotes and compare that to the installed price of buying one from a shop. Also remember that if you're buying from an unauthorized dealer you may have no warranty at all and even if you do be prepared to pay to get it removed, shipped off, and reinstalled. Just be aware, thats all!

+1. If you go to Directed Electronics - Security & Remote Start | Home Theater | Satellite Radio | Car Audio & Video , you will find that they authorize NO online sales of their products. So, no matter what the company claims that you are purchasing it from, they will NOT carry the lifetime warranty on the module through Directed. I am going to PM you with at least three TR members information here whom you can verify that over the years have purchased Viper stuff online, had it installed by us (we are a direct Directed/Viper dealer and have been for years-that is different from purchasing through distribution), and had various failures either right out of the box or shortly thereafter. Then again, as 727kid states, we have had a few with zero problems.

But, you may find that to have it installed by a professional and reputable shop (one that actually hits all the door triggers, hood, trunk pin, etc properly including diode isolating, and solders at least the key wires and main power wires connections), you are going to get closer to what it would have cost all together to just purchase and have it installed all in one place. If you get one with zero problems, you are good. But, if it has to be removed to be shipped out, you will find that it has probably cost you more money in the end.

If it is purchased and installed at an authorized direct Directed dealer, we have to cover labor warranty on workmanship and module failure-including parts replacement and programming that follows Directed's warranty (the dealer signs this as part of their dealer agreement).

And, if the original direct authorized dealer that installed it ever goes out of business, you can call Directed and they will assist you in making an appointment at the next nearest dealer to get warranty work taken care of.

A couple of things to think of....
