What kind of head unit is it? If it's a double DIN, any kind of flip out or high-output you may need to run a ground wire to the frame or body. You may have already fried the traces by now, but hopefully not. Is there an inline fuse on the 12v positive lead on your wiring harness? Check that too.

Its a sony headunit ive had in 3 of my cars and its worked fine but when i got the car it had a JVC headunit and it did the same thing too and i thought it was the headunit and i switched it out and put my sony in it but it didnt cure the problem its just a regular FM/AM CD player

I had the same issue. My radio was shutting of because a bad ground from my dash , it was sucking up all the juice from my radio. I found the loose ground, tightened it and all good.

seems lihe you just have a bad radio ground or possible issue like mine.
