Default How much to install flip-down ceiling-mounted TV/DVD?

Looking for someone to install 8.4" TV/built-in DVD player in my 2007 Camry-got couple of quotes already but want to make sure they are fair. Please post what you or some place you know charges. Has built in IR transmitter, and all hardware. So far lowest quoted was $100 by some mobile installer from Craiglist, but I'd rather have a reputable shop (read-MCOR) perform the installation. Thanks.

If you already known how good MCOR is, why even ask? Just take it there and they'll fix you up right and fair.

Good point, I did call but it was more than an independent installed would charge ($100), and I am in a tight financial situation right now so moneys is tight so I'm just checking around.

Gotcha. Just always remember how much replacing the headliner or roof of your car might cost if some random person screws it up and says "seeee ya!"
Along with that, an overhead needs to be mounted solid and properly otherwise it becomes a missile in a crash!

Honestly, I would rather see you just wait until you could afford a couple more bucks on the install. Luke has hit the nail on the head-mobile installers are just that. Good luck finding them when something goes wrong after they leave, or it falls out of the ceiling, or (again as Luke said) it becomes a missle heading straight for the kiddies in the back seat in an accident-how would you feel about that? Not trying to scare you and I appreciate that you mentioned us, but this is NOT an area to skimp. $100 is about what I would expect a mobile installer to charge. They usually like to make about $100 a day and they are good! Everything is $100 for them it seems. Dunno.

A professional reputable shop will indeed cost a couple more bucks for the install, but for that piece of mind, it would seem worth it to me. That headliner (and god-forbid the roof itself) would be allot more expensive to repair than the few bucks you are saving by going with someone mobile. I would hate to see something happen to you. There are one or two guys here that do side work that you maye be okay with but be careful there also. There are a few horror story threads in this forum relating to these types of installs also!

i typically charge $40 an hour now, and to do an install like this CORRECTLY, would take about 2 1/2 hours, drop headliner mount support from crossbeams, reinstall headliner, mount tv & wire. i would never do this as a mobile install, to much to take apart, and to cut and make supports, you could not have what you need or tools needed.
