Default Possible Misread

If you look closely he says it is a chrome amp

"JL Audio 1000/1 Amp in Chrome"

Don't mark my word but I believe it might be a special edition of some sort.

Well, he is maybe partially telling the truth. JL Audio will put out custom amps for us (or any other JL Audio authorized dealer) upon request. We can request the covers in chrome, black anodized, etc. They actually sell us the covers so the customer gets to keep the original covers. Most shops anymore however just send the covers out to have whatever done that they want (anodized, powder coated, chromed, etc).

So they never really sold the amps like this as an option, but many dealers a few years back had them done up like this for show cars, and display units. Haven't seen one in a while though.

I have a chrome 1000/1 and a chrome 450/4. JL made 800 of each type actually back when they first started doing them in black too. The issue was they said they couldn't find any places that chromed well enough. So many were coming back flawed that they stopped producing them. They actually cast the chasis in mirimar, shipped them to a motorcycle chroming shop in Texas, then got shipped back to mirimar to have the rest of the process completed. When i picked them up they were 1600 for a 1000/1 and 1300 for the 450/4. Luckily i had employee accomidation or else i never would have bought them myself.

Note the sticker that says "chrome: Chrome plated in the USA to QQ-N290A/QQ-C320 specifications" in the right corner of the box. If it doesn't have that on it...its not a real chromed one from JL. If anyone besides me still has a 2003/2004 JL dealer price guide layin around they're in there, or talk to justin a JL or anyone else old school like me

Yeah, Jason is still there of course. Sayen is a lifer-great guy and one of the most helpful reps in the industry. He has definitely helped to progress our business with "overboard" factory support.

They even saw our pics of the parade setup we had this July 4th and offered to bring in the "JL Big Guns" for next years parade. Should be interesting to say the least! There is not another company I have ever dealt with do so much for their dealers...
