These were 12 of the pentagon digital amps
and 12 of the dual voice coil aluminum cone speakers. Not the new silver ones with poly cone.
Frontsystem was 8 5.75 Speakers with good placed
tweeters on the analog Sony XPlod Amps.
Sounded VERY good and played deep and loud,
of course

Looked like a 6th order from the videos. Put 12 subs in anything it will be loud, put 12 subs in a 6th order in a wall its going be loud as hell.

 

Sony is NOT out of 12 volt in any way. Total, 100% WRONG there. I actually sell their HU's and they aren't bad at all. It's a nice option for someone who doesn't want the same Pioneer that 90% of the cars around here have, but don't want to spend huge money. And they actually have a couple pretty cool little amps too. I dont think i'd mess with their speakers or woofers at this point but the amps and HU's aren't bad small-budget items.

 

Luke is 100% correct. Sony is still fully in 12 volt (like it or not).

Dow Electronics on Adamo is the local wholesale distribution warehouse for the indie shops and they are fully stocked (rep just came by the shop two weeks ago with this years model spec sheets and brochures).

Their speakers do suck IMO and I really don't have a market for the amps. The HU's are okay as far as style, price, and features-but one of my installers had allot of return failures on them when he was slinging them in at Circuit City for 4 years. I prefer JVC for the price due to a lower defective rate and customers seem to like the style better overall (at my store anyway).

Panasonic on the other hand, out of 12 volt for 2009! I understand from another rep that Clarion is on the fence also for 2010 on the 12 volt. Clarion is more of a rumor though...

 

I haven't done Sony before this year, and so far we've had zero fails but i haven't done a ton of them yet. So at least right now I'm pretty confident in them. I also do JVC, but the Sony's are a nice changeup from what the other 100 shops in Pinellas County sells!
Eclipse is also in trouble. They have been killing the market in Japan and the rest of Asia for a few years but just haven't done what they had hoped in the US. Last year they started buying their entry level units from JVC and now they've fired their entire R&D staff, so they're either looking to close up shop in the US or just stick their nameplate on someone else's entire line. 2010 will be an interesting year in car audio!
